Token Skeptic Podcast – Ayaan Hirsi Ali Speaking At Christ Church Grammar

by podblack on August 3, 2010

Later today, the Token Skeptic podcast will be featuring the audio from Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s talk at Christ Church Grammar School. She is the Somali-born former politician once named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Today in the West Australian, there was a brief report about her visit to Perth – “Refugees Should Adapt To Fit In”:

She said with Muslims accounting for an estimated 70 per cent of the world’s 14 million refugees, there was a need for Australia to discuss how Muslim immigrants could be integrated without fear of political correctness.

She later drew an audience of more than 1200 people to the chapel at Christ Church Grammar School to listen to her in conversation with Canon Frank Sheehan, director of the school’s Centre for Ethics.

She told Canon Sheehan she believed “man, and especially man, made God” and that not all Gods were equal, especially those which “demanded the complete subservience of women”.

Islam was “incompatible with democracy”, she said, and Muslims wanting to immigrate to Australia should be asked how much of Islam they subscribed to.

What an amazingly refreshing directness and honesty is exhibited by this remarkable woman.
WOWWWWWWWWWW…..I think we will know much more of her in Australia in time to come…I hope we come to know her as an adopted daughter of our country, and as such a wonderful role model for not only our daughters, but for our population as a whole.
