The whole episode is about how they can kill Sydney. They didn’t explain why they chose it. I think they just enjoyed making the models of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
What has Phil got against Sydney ? Where are minties made ?
Phil explained on twitter the reason why. They wanted a city that had very well known landmarks and that hadn’t already been destroyed countless times in other movies and shows.
Doesn’t quite fit Sydney imho, but meh. No ill intentions on his or their behalf anyway.
