Please promote and support this article – “No, I Don’t Believe In God” by Alom Shaha.
I consider it a great honor that I had Alom Shaha speak to me as a science communicator, for an early podcast interview I did: episode #22 of the Skeptic Zone with Alom Shaha.
What I knew of him them was that he was a Physics teacher at a comprehensive school in London. As a film-maker, science writer and science communication consultant, he has written, produced and directed a number of TV programmes about science. He was also recognised with a fellowship from the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA).
What people may not know, is that he is also an atheist.
“Once these words are published, there’s no turning back for me, there’s no more pretending or avoiding the issue with friends and family – some of whom will be hurt and feel insulted by what I write here, some will be disappointed and genuinely concerned that I am sabotaging the future of my eternal soul, and a few will be outraged and disgusted at the thought of having anything to do with an infidel, a kafir. But my oldest, closest friends, the boys I went to primary school with, the boys I still hang out with pretty much every Friday night, the boys I consider brothers, already know I’m an atheist, just as they’d probably have known if I was gay.”
This is his very important story – and I urge you to write into The Guardian website with your support of him. This is not a easy story for him to write – and it is one that should be read.

I meant to put this in before but forgot oops.
Thanks for introducing and sharing the link to Alom’s story.
It was truly a great article and makes you think about how hard it is for some people to stand up and be honest who they are and what they believe in.
It would be nice if Alom wrote more along these lines and sharing his experiences.
Thanks again
