New Website For Those Attending The Perth AVN Lecture – Vaccination Facts

by podblack on May 31, 2010

Dear fellow skeptics, scientists and concerned citizens,

Vaccination FactsA Response To Meryl Dorey And The AVN At Perth’s State Library

I don’t know if you’ve been following the case of the Australian Vaccination Network in Australia, but they are an anti-vaccination group who have been extremely proactive in promoting pseudoscience in the Eastern states of this country.

Their vaccination-conspiracy lectures have been commented upon and challenged by likes of the Australian Skeptics and by Dr Rachael Dunlop (presenter at NECSS 2009 and fellow reporter of the Skeptic Zone podcast). Meryl Dorey, the spokesperson for the AVN, was the winner of the ‘Bent Spoon Award’ in 2009 by the Australian Skeptics (the equivalent of the Randi ‘Pigasus Award’).

In 2009, a national advertisement was run, sponsored by Dick Smith, to further raise awareness of their misinformation:

Now they are coming to my town, in Western Australia.

In fact, despite our efforts to encourage venues not to allow them to book a lecture space, they have managed to find a place at the State Library of Western Australia, called the Alexander Library in central Perth.

A new website has been created in response to the AVN coming to Perth, Western Australia’s State Library, to lecture on June 1st:

Can you please promote this website as best you can, in order to help raise awareness of it and hopefully challenge the lecture that is going to be run?

Thank you very much,

Kylie Sturgess

But how do people get in touch to help? It’s not clear on the site. Is there a counter-demo tonight?
