I made it to the three minute mark. Sometime around “Halley’s Comet coming to kill us all”.

Kudos to any of you that made it further than that.

Thanks for sharing that. Sadly, it made me want to do what Homer does to Bart and grab the “Edison Hour” guy by the throat and throttle him. I’m extremely pro-technology and believe technology is needed to fix the damage we have done and are still doing, but I fully support the sentiments of Earth Hour.

It saddens me that some people think there is a conflict between environmentalism, economics and technology when there is no need for a conflict.

Hmmm when you get pwned by a TV show host because your debating skills are so poor it really is time to think of another career.

Since when did awareness of consequences translate to ‘luddite’.

Is this a comedy sketch from New Zealand? This has to be a joke right? No one can be this stupid. There are safeguards to prevent people like this operating in real world… right?

Thanks so much for this! Obviously it’s a long lost episode of Flight of the Conchords! They really are funny buggers the Kiwis!

I SOOOO hoped it was a joke. But I fear not. :/ Bloomin’ heck, I’m not that sympathetic to the rather-smarmy host, but geeze, how to really mess up an appearance on morning TV… :/

We’ve made the Earth too people-friendly, so the usual penalties no longer apply.

In other words, we’ve stopped the “selection” part of natural selection…

I have to think that they brought this fool on merely to discredit those of us who do revere the technology that has improved our way of life beyond measure, and don’t fear an anthropogenically caused catastrophe. There are some quite intelligent and well educated debaters amongst us AGW skeptics.

Maybe not a joke but (I seriously hope) an impressive use of irony. It would explain a lot.

I just have a nasty feeling that the TV show went to the commercial and proceeded to rip everyone a new one for getting that nutty guy on his show and running the risk of them all being made fools of. Too late! :p

“Big time”. Ha ha ha

Technology does not equal power use. The two are different issues.

This guy is an idiot. The host is an idiot. What are kiwis? Nobody knows.

This is the type of guy who would be drunk at the bar, armed with a handful of cliches he feels constitute an argument. By yelling them repeatedly, he feels he has engaged in intelligent discourse.

podblack April 15, 2010 at 11:44 am

Sadly, I’ve seen this happen on internet forum-boards and comments on websites too… yell repeatedly + *SOMETHING* = profit! :D *urgh*

summerwino April 15, 2010 at 6:48 pm

I think you’ll find its:

1.) collect cliches
2.) yell them repeatedly
3.) ????
4.) PROFIT.
