Hah! It worked! A little while back I begged you fine readers to Vote For Me – Research Blogging Awards!
And you did! What-the?
This on the heels, mind, of the following email:
I am writing a paper for my college class at ******* ******** College in **. ********, Iowa, USA, and I was just making sure that it was okay to use the information about you for a biography… Our class assignment was to pick a podcaster and follow the posts for a while, then we had to write a two-page paper about what we thought about the posts and how they were presented. (I enjoyed them, by the way).
GAH! And here I was convinced that you wouldn’t notice that I’ve been so busy that most of my content has been YouTube links for nearly a month. I hope that the two-page paper at least had a link to Catherine’s kittez.
I’d like to thank the Academy for thinking that posts of the caliber of ‘Ninja Kittens Don’t Steal the Moon!‘ and The Ode Less Practiced: Ericsson and Charness-1994 / Fry 2005 or even Year Of The Ox – Charming Tradition Or Load Of Bull? are considered worthy of a list that includes fave reads like NCBI ROFL or Placebo Journal!
Mind, I suspect that this post had a lot to do with ‘let’s just tell her she’s sometimes funny and maybe she’ll get back to work on the serious stuff again…’ :p
But hold everything! As you may note from the summation:
Seed Media Group’s Research Blogging Awards honor the outstanding bloggers who discuss peer-reviewed research. With over 1,000 blogs registered at ResearchBlogging.org and 9,500 posts about peer-reviewed journal articles collected, it is time to recognize the best of the best.
By February 11, 2010, readers had made over 400 nominations. Then our expert panel of judges painstakingly assessed the nominees to select 5 to 10 finalists in each of 20 categories. Congratulations to all our finalists, who represent the best blogging about peer-reviewed research on the Internet! In one week, voting will open and the bloggers themselves will decide who receives the awards.
Ulp. This means that people will vote for one of the others in the category – but honestly, it’s a lovely surprise that they considered my site at all and kittez for everyone who put my name forward for ANY category!
Next year, if they have a “win on timeliness, accuracy, relevance, effort, ethics, and stupid names” category, I’ll do my best to scoop the prize.
