Last night, the now Dr Blackburn had the last laugh when she became the first Australian woman to win a Nobel prize.
Melbourne-educated Dr Blackburn, 60, was awarded the Nobel prize in medicine along with long-time US collaborators Jack Szostak and Carol Greider.
