Of course, the two guests have met before – check out my series on The One, psychic TV Show and how well a certain Éclair performed back then…
You can read a BBC analysis with a larger photo, on this site – BBC Gloucestershire’s Chris Sandys reports:
Has the photo been faked?
“No. The images used on the BBC Gloucestershire website haven’t been altered from the original other than to ‘crop’ them to the different sizes you have seen and lower the quality so they load on your computer screen quickly.”
Could the camera lens have stayed open and caught me returning to the room?
“Yes possibly. As the attic isn’t a bright environment the camera lens would have remained open as long as necessary to allow as much light into the photo as possible. …In this particular instance, I set the 10 second timer on the camera, walked through the room with the two beds and then returned once I’d heard the relevant noises to suggest the camera had finished taking the photo.”
Let me know how amusing you find the fluttering in the Channel 7 report. It’s almost as if Mitchell got a little peeved with the ‘um, practically every paranormal investigator KNOWS what dust orbs are now…’

Oh my. That was sad. And to think I recently gave kudos to Channel Seven for their recent forays into reality.
I saw Coombes doing a reading on one of the morning shows a few weeks ago. He spouted so much non-stop gibberish that it would be difficult not to find a vague “hit” or two amongst it. He reminds me of Alvin, the chipmunk.
How does Richard do it? Remain calm, that is, without bursting into laughter?
Kudos to Richard for holding it together. perhaps its time for another hoax
Channel Seven is really reaching, now. I think it’s time for a new hoax, and we will find the support for the ridiculous.
I don’t know that “psychic” but he should have been introduced as a “gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa gasp aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa gasp aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa gasp aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay psychic.”
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that”
Funnily enough (though not funny at all really), after their credulous dismissal of Richard’s skepticism yesterday (and just about every other time they’ve had him on the show), Mel asked today how someone can believe in religion to the point of allowing their own child to die.
If you believe in happy spirits – and psychics never seem to contact grumpy ones – then why would you care about someone dying and going to that happy place?
Credulous reporting (and repeatedly scoffing at the rational views of skeptics) can surely only lead to the empowering of credulous views in the community. Sunrise, as it stands, is a part of the problem.
Hope that link works. If not, go to the Sunrise homepage and watch “Religion vs Medicine”.
Well done Richard – and looking so dashing!
Combes is comical, if not credible…
Hey you, lovely to have you commenting! And yes, it’s that tie. I’m thinking I might steal it and run around Dragon*Con wearing it… then I can be ‘dashing’ too! :p
It must be a comparative thing – res is dashing in his tie, ’cause he’s normally such a dag.
You have your boots; you don’t need a tie!
