Stephen Fry Leads New Zealand Internet Twitter Blackout Protest Against Insane Copyright Law

by podblack on February 16, 2009

Alert from Stephen Fry leads to the following articles: If you’re on Twitter, would you change your avatar to black to show support for the fight against a “three accusations and you’re offline” law in New Zealand?

Sections 92A and C of the amended Copyright Act establish a guilt upon accusation principle that can see anyone accused of “copyright infringement” getting his or her Internet connection severed.

Sign the petition about the law here. There are also further actions you can take after signing on, via that link.

There are also details on the law that will come into effect on February 28th 2009, unless action is taken.
