That is my Certificate of Completion for the Introduction to Parapsychology Course, run by the Koestler Parapsychology Unit at the University of Edinburgh!
This new short course (commenced September 2008) is taught entirely online and is open to anyone regardless of geographical location. It is a non-accredited course, meaning that there is no formal assessment or qualification gained, though regular participation is expected for award of the certificate. The programme consists of a ‘familiarisation’ week, followed by ten weekly modules covering key topics in parapsychology. The course aims to provide a balanced approach and stimulate critical thinking on each topic.

It was a really good course! There are certain aspects of it which were very, very ‘skeptical’ (I think now the ‘advocate’ stance rather than ‘counteradvocate’ is actually a better way to put it) – and I felt that discussions with people who were more believers in psi and esp were done with respect and people acknowledged any good arguments that were made.
And oh… the resources. There were FANTASTIC interviews with Alcock, Wiseman, French and other people that featured in the course. Some of the best interviews with them! Anyway, it’s now an article / interview in both the UK and Aust Skeptic magazines, so hope you get a copy!
E – that is one of my FAVORITE Parapsychologists. Certainly not the one they’d prefer associated with them… but I just love Venkman.
I do hope you’ll be getting a proper antique, gilt, haunted frame for it!
