There were two great round-ups of blog carnivals today! The first is just in time for the latest Skeptic Zone podcast to be heading your way – because the theme was about skepticism in another country, specifically Africa!
Skeptics’ Circle 101: The African Edition, is up on Ionian Enchantment. Some great entries I enjoyed included Karen ‘Skepbitch‘ Stollznow on Bigfoot (aka Bigfootae Ambiguus Subjectico); The Lay Scientist with the great title ‘NHS Takes Aim at Daily Mail over Baby Buggy Bollocks‘ and Owen Swart who introduces and debunks the tokoloshe, a common Southern African superstition!
As for the title of this blogpost? The latest Scientiae is out and it’s an absolute riot! I love the way everyone got into the spirit of the ’season of shoes’ – it’s all featured at On Being A Domestic And Laboratory Goddess with The Totally Hot December Scientiae!
Podblack does her science in some bad ass tango shoes. She tells us about various hot sounding things like Rasch analysis and Guttman patterns. Next time Dr. Isis is in bed with Mr. Isis she’s going to to whisper “Rasch analysis” in his ear, because she’s sure there is no way it would not give him a boner.
Eeeek!
Whilst you’re checking them all out and going ‘eeeek!’, you can prepare your ears and check to see whether the wonderful Skeptic Zone podcast has reached your iTunes subscription yet: there’s a fantastic show out today including:
- Global Skepticism – Highlights of the panel we did at Dragon*Con 2008, with members of the Skeptic Zone and special guest James Randi!
- Interview with Benjamin Radford by Dr Karen Stollznow – Managing editor of the science magazine Skeptical Inquirer;
- Dr Rachie Reports LIVE from Sydney Skeptics in the Pub; The Round Up with Michael Wolloghan and our regulars with the The Think Tank!
Here’s the video I took of James Randi on our panel as were presenting on Global Skepticism, that you’ll also be able to hear on this week’s show:
I hope we’ll be able to include skeptics from Africa if we get to do the Global Skepticism panel again!

Eeeek!
Wow, that’s a whole lotta skeptical goodness in that post, thanks!
Just wondering, has anyone ever offered to coach Randi in how to emulate an Australian accent, as opposed to an English one?
Dear holy hades, Adrian, do NOT start me on how badly people do Australian accents on various shows. I have one good friend who I caught up with in NY and I felt as if we were on the set of “My Fair Lady” when they tried mimicking my accent…
