Very proud to point out that my bloggy-friend DC has just got some recognition for their poetry skills!
Winners of the Darwin Limerick Contest!
1st place: Cuttlefish, with:
The object of all my affection
Just told me I failed her inspection!
So I guess that this means
It’s the end for my genes—
There’s a downside to natural selection!
By the way, you must check out the Dispersal Of Darwin site for their wonderful links and ideas (especially with 2009 on the horizon) – I leapt upon the following link:
DARWIN CORRESPONDENCE PROJECT TEACHING RESOURCES
A set of teaching resources on Darwin has recently been made available on the Darwin Correspondence Project’s website (http://www.darwinproject.ac.uk/).
These are suitable for use in science, history, religion, gender studies or literature classes. Darwin’s letters make excellent sources for teaching in a wide variety of subjects. Short letter-sets have been prepared on various topics, such as species theory, beauty, class and gender relations, friendship, and scientific controversy. These materials, together with a brief introduction, discussion questions, and a list of further reading, are now available.
I’m doing some work at the moment regarding philosophy resources, so I think I’ll find these inspirational – hope they help you too! Don’t forget to check out the winner’s newly released book, the Digital Cuttlefish at Lulu.com!
