I have only heard of a few: Kirsty McColl, Moby, and Regina Spektor. You should listen to “In These Shoes” by Kirsty if you haven’t heard it before.
Oh, absolutely! I was devestated when McColl died a few years back; I have all her albums and used to sing along to them when I had them on audio tape, in my very battered Celica on the way to uni.
