Digital Cuttlefish Lyrical About Large Hadron Collider!

by podblack on September 11, 2008

Bugger! I should have guessed Blake Stacey would beat me to blogging it! :) The wonderful Digital Cuttlefish has a new poem about the Large Hadron Collider:

The switch was thrown in Switzerland
And protons zoomed around a bend—
Across the world, we clasped our hands
And waited for the world to end.
The scientists at Fermilab
Were hoping there was much to learn—
But true believers everywhere
Were voicing their concern with CERN

The particles accelerate:
When protons smash—what happens then?
Did CERN just push the “reset” switch,
To start the cosmos up again?

Oh, how many people noticed that I was wearing a Digital Cuttlefish shirt for the very first panel on Issues in Education at Dragon*Con? I’m on the end next to Dr Karen Stollznow and Dr Phil Plait.

I only just noticed that someone got a photo of me with the rather distinct logo that you can see as the banner on DC’s blog – an image thanks to artist, scientist and all-round Renaissance brat, Michael McRae of Science by Email and www.chthonicdreams.com, who is the artist behind my banner too!
