Just a quick post in case I get no chance from the road:
Skeptics of Carlos Blog Carnival – looking for entries and out on the 13th August – check out the site here for details and send your posts in!
After this round of qual collection, I’ll be en route to Dragon*Con, taking in a few international stops on the way. Already I am bugging friends for more ideas of what to get up to when I arrive. Oh, if you have anything that you think could add to a revamp of the TANK Vodcast, pop in some suggestions in the comments!
OH – nearly forgot: Philosophy Cafe – Fremantle! This will be on the 12th August:
PLEASE NOTE – A CHANGE OF VENUE FOR THE FREMANTLE CAFE FROM NOW ON!
Fairweathers – Old Fremantle Hotel, cnr of High Street and Cliff Street.
The next Philosophy Cafe will be held on Tuesday 12 Aug – from 7.30pm at Fairweathers – Old Fremantle Hotel, cnr of High Street and Cliff Street.
And coffee and tea will be back on the menu!
The claim for discussion is: What is real, independent of language?
A central element has been a critique of the nature of human perception, particularly vision. When we perceive the world around us, what is the actual object of our awareness? Is it things that physically exist, or is it something in our mind, and perhaps only in our mind?
Join the team for some interesting philosophical exchange. Things to consider: Consider the kind of evidence and manner you would choose to convey your message. How would you justify your response to any objections raised? That is, on what grounds.
In the meantime, enjoy some parrots who had lunch with me in Fremantle this weekend.
