UPDATE – from an inquiry to VP: “Victoria Police deal in factual evidence only, they do not use psychics nor do they endorse them.”
If… psychics were able to solve crimes…
Why aren’t psychics being targeted by every major criminal organisation for being a threat to their illegal livelihoods?
“@*&^#^!! Sylvia Browne found the body, the cash, and that we did it in the library with the Pekingese dog! Quick, let’s snuff the old trout before she discovers we’re behind the Black Dahlia case, the JFK shooting and the phone-ahead-to-make-sure-there’s-cash-in-the-till robbery!”
In the meantime, enjoy the claims of a certain Lizzy Rose (her site says “Proudly Sponsor & Recognised by Australia Federal Police. Proudly Sponsor and Recognised by Victoria Police” – did she donate to their charity?) who has appeared in a terrifyingly credulous newspaper article about the popularity of psychics: Spiritual Business – Sydney Morning Herald
Years ago, “witches” such as DuBois, who behaved so “spookily”, were burnt at the stake, but it seems the world is opening up to the spirit world like never before…. Rose says this all signifies a return to the times of old, when psychics, astrologers and mystics were powerful and respected and kings and queens would summon them to read the future of their countries, and major decisions were made according to the signs.
But psychic mediums do see a purpose to their vocation. “Out of the thousands of readings that I’ve taken part in, I’ve never had a spirit come through and say that he should have worked more or spent less time helping others,” says DuBois.
Despite having helped to solve many high-profile crimes in Melbourne, Rose says she still encounters the odd sceptic who asks why she hasn’t won the lottery or isn’t living the perfect life if she is truly psychic. “Why would I be here if I had nothing to learn or work towards? If it wasn’t for those lows that fall over the footpath, I wouldn’t have enjoyed the highs, learned to see the perfection in everything and become closer to my own inner knowledge. None of that would have happened if I always had and knew everything.”
Apparently some very helpful skeptics have already contacted the Victorian police about her claims. My Magic Eight Ball says ‘Tilt’ regarding that one…
Also in the news – whoo hoo!! Crisis at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital:
… Several of the 40 or so PCTs (Primary Care Trusts) which purchase services at the RLHH have either completely stopped their contracts or set up ‘referral management centres’ which screen all referrals made by General Practitioners (Family Physicians). The result is that many patients, depending on where they live, can no longer access our services, or face great bureaucratic obstacles in doing so.
If this trend continues the hospital will be forced to reduce its services or even to close completely. There is a serious financial crisis in the NHS, which has triggered these cuts. The PCTs have generally justified their decisions by claiming that scientific evidence of the effectiveness of homeopathy and other complementary therapies is lacking. But it is clear that their financial problems are the major factor…. Many patients are no longer able to access our services, and are suffering severe consequences.
What, like no placebo effect?
